East Antarctica: a novel!

One of my worst memories of BAC white, it was a test of philosophy with the question "Can we say forever? ". I had no doubt that there were many things to say about that, but for me I got 4 / 20 ... Even a few years later, I can tell you that I still have not the answer. And you?
On February 10, 2007, I left the Terre Adélie after spending fifteen months on the Dumont d'Urville. Around 16:30, the moorings of the Astrolabe were dropped and gradually, I left behind me the place that was more than a year in "our village". Of king penguins winning

The results of the photo contest Emotion'Ailes organized under the 2011 Festival Nature Namur fell this weekend. Among 2299 images and 310 participating photographers, the penguins from the colony of Saint Andrews Bay South Georgia, won first prize in the category "graphics".

100 years ago, Amundsen ... but Mawson

In a previous article , I mentioned the centenary of the conquest of the South Pole by Norwegian Roald Amundsen and his team. The year 2011 also marks the centenary of the Australian Antarctic Expedition Australasian Antarctic Expedition officially called. It was conducted between 1911 and 1914 by Douglas Mawson in the exploration and mapping of virtually unexplored part of the coast of Antarctica located in South Australia.
Douglas Mawson was a geologist, he studied including the territories now known as the Vanuatu and was appointed lecturer at the University of Adelaide in 1905. In November 1907, Ernest Shackleton passage to Australia for his expedition to Antarctica, Mawson agrees to board and teacher Dr. Edgeworth David, who wish to study if there is a link between the geology of Antarctica and that of the Australia. The fjord of Emperor Franz Joseph

I'm back after a summer in the Arctic and I must admit, one last trip to the east coast of Greenland, which remains my most grandiose done to date! After departure of Kulusuk, a visit to the community of Ammassalik, so we traveled northwards to the bottom of the fjord of Emperor Franz Joseph ( see on a map ).
