An important discovery was made in the territory of Nunavut in the Arctic, as the ancestor of the current Pinnipeds was discovered. This sub-order Pinnipedia includes three families of carnivorous marine mammals: seals, walruses and seals. If scientists knew that these animals descended from a terrestrial ancestor, they had however no idea about how the transition from terrestrial to the marine environment has been made. The answer will probably come from the discovery of bones unearthed in Nunavut in the Arctic since 2007 by a US-Canadian team, who found the remains of an animal with webbed feet. The skeleton extracted 65% is characterized by a skull very similar to that of a seal and body similar to that of an otter. This discovery is regarded as the missing link in the evolution of land mammals to the marine environment, theory supported by Charles Darwin in his book The Origin of Species. This animal has also been named Puijila darwini, Puijila means young sea mammal in Inuktitut (one of four major dialect of the Inuit language).

Hi Samuel,
I thank you two for the answers to the class of "little penguins". It made us happy to read the mail this morning.
We found in a documentary that food for the chicks were in the stomach. The book says like you, so we now also.
* For the ancestor of the seal, how do they know that his skin is red orange?
* Is this ancestor was larger than a seal or smaller?
* Do you know what is the ancestor of the penguin?
We will try to finish the pole! Too bad you were not there!
See you soon!

Hello,
Skin I'm not sure, this finding may result from genetic analysis. About the size of this ancestor, there is no precise data on this, but it seemed smaller.
For the ancestor of penguins, there is the Great Auk, but penguins are descended from the same family as the albatross ... I'll let you do research on this topic? In fact maybe you could write an article on penguins might be called "penguin or penguin? "I could put it on the blog ...
Cheers and congratulations again for tea polar, we would have liked to finish it with you ...
Samuel
Hello,
We collect the ancestor of penguins in the documentary of the class. In any case, it's weird that this is the same ancestor as the albatross as the albatross is a champion for the flight!
Yes, we want to write the article on "penguin or penguin? "It is our pleasure to be invited to write your blog. Thank you! It was a little nervous! It will take time to write it well!
See you soon!
